Mayana Plants

Mayana, or Coleus, plants are one of the easiest to grow. They are known for their vibrant leaf colors and shapes. Some leaves even grow as big as ones palm, and some as small as a 5 peso coin. It is a feast in the eye, a really amazing sight to see, when clustered together or individually in pots. The flower blooms are small and inconsequential compared to the leaves. Unless you are planning to propagate them through seeds, then let it bloom and wilt until brown. For a better leaf growth, you may cut the flower stalks off. Location-wise, they love love direct sunlight and lots and lots of water. Fertilize only minimally with worm castings/poop, or cow manure. I think, it is easiest to propagate through stem cuttings, but they also grow by seeds, to which I have no luck.

Tips and tricks on how to make your Mayana’s fuller, lush and not leggy. Pinch off the new growing leaves, to promote the growth of leaves sideways instead of going up.
